Truckers have one of most unappreciated jobs. To support this statement, Trucking Tribune is providing 14 facts about trucking.
A SEMI-TRUCK CAN WEIGH OVER EIGHTY THOUSAND POUNDS. To put this weight into perspective, 80,000 pounds is approximately 27 cars. It takes a lot of skill to drive 80,000 lbs.
TRUCKS CANNOT STOP AS QUICKLY AS CARS. In order for a truck to fully stop, it would need about the length of a football field.
TRUCK DRIVING IS RESPONSIBLE FOR 1 IN 14 US JOBS. There are about 9 million people employed by the trucking industry, and 3.2 million of them are in the United States.

75% OF THE AMERICAN COMMUNITIES DEPEND SOLELY ON TRUCKS FOR DELIVERY OF THEIR GOODS AND SERVICES. That is over 200 million people and you're probably included in that.
1 IN 9 TRUCKERS ARE INDEPENDENT DRIVERS. This isn’t easy to do if you consider how much it costs to buy a cab and trailer. The combination of a new cab and trailer can total up to anywhere from $90,000 to $260,000.
THE MAJORITY OF GOODS TRANSPORTED CAN BE BROKEN INTO 4 MAIN CATEGORIES. The categories consist of food, furniture, clothing, and electrical machinery. What would you do without these things?
MORE ACCIDENTS ARE CAUSED BY CAR DRIVERS THAN BY TRUCK DRIVERS. Trucks are responsible for 500,000 accidents yearly compared to the 5.25 MILLION accidents caused by cars. Truck vs Car accidents are only 2.4% of the total accidents and 84% of them are the car driver’s fault.
ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN TRUCKING ASSOCIATIONS, THE UNITED STATES IS CURRENTLY SHORT 30,000 TRUCK DRIVERS. Keep your driving record clean and you'll be in high demand.
MOST OF THE TRUCK DRIVERS ORIGINATE FROM FLORIDA. Some of the other common states that truckers come from are California and Texas.
TRUCKS CONSUME FIFTY BILLION GALLONS OF FUEL A YEAR. Now, that may seem like a lot but trucks are only accountable for 2.8% of the nation’s fuel intake.
THE AVERAGE TRUCKER DRIVES ABOUT 105,000 MILES A YEAR. That is over 2,000 miles a week!
THERE ARE OVER 400,000 TRUCKING COMPANIES IN THE UNITED STATES. FedEx is the trucking company that pulled in the most cash last year.
BONUS FUN FACT: ON FEBRUARY 18, 2006 THE WORLD'S LONGEST RECORDED ROAD TRAIN WAS MADE. An Australian built a Mack truck with 112 semi-trailers (1,279 long tons, 1433 short tons), 4,836 feet 11 inches long. That guy was driving almost 5,000 feet while most car drivers struggle to back out of their driveway.

THANK YOU TO THE ALL THE TRUCKERS AND REMEMBER TO KEEP ON ROLLIN'
